REPEAL OF MARION COUNTY OCCUPATIONAL LICENSE ORDINANCE On August 1, 2006, by a vote of 5-0, the Marion County Board of County Commissioners repealed the Occupational License Ordinance effective October 1, 2006. There is no longer a requirement for a Marion County Occupational License after September 30, 2006. This change only affects Occupational Licenses issued by Marion County. It does not change any State regulated professional requirements, Building Department licensing requirements or Occupational License requirements for cities located in Marion County.

Passed on Tuesday night, a resolution allowing a 120-day pilot for ride-hailing services in the Rose City requires every contracted driver using his or her private vehicle as a de facto taxi to obtain a business license. By Thursday morning, Uber had sent its drivers a letter telling them that they need to get a Portland business license by noon Friday if they want access to the company's app and network.
