Sandra Bullock's 'Gravity' Paycheck Will Be At Least $70 Million
820 58 It turns out Sandra Bullock's "Gravity" paycheck is seriously out of this world. The Oscar nominee will earn at least $70 million for Alfonso Cuarón's space epic, according to The Hollywood Reporter. That's because she gets 15 percent of first-dollar grosses, which is a fancy way of describing the portion of the box office revenue that's owed to Warner Bros. That $70 million also includes the initial $20 million Bullock was paid upfront for the role. Given the length of "Gravity," a $70 million paycheck means Bullock will have earned about $769,000 for each of the movie's 91 minutes.

Does my net paycheck decrease as the year goes on due to tax brackets filling up?
H. R. basically consults Publication 15 (this is the link to 2015) to determine how much to hold, based on filing status, exemptions, and pay amount. What's described here is a form ofestimation , or, in other words, H. R. withholds what would be your actual taxes, dividing across the number of paychecks you receive. Assuming your gross pay and exemptions do not change, this usually results in a zero-sum for taxes owed (you will receive nothing, and owe nothing). As you can see from the charts, the year is basically broken down into equal tax units that reflect how much you would owe if you worked at that bracket all year.
Understanding Payroll and Withholding Taxes
PAYROLL TAXES The term “payroll tax” can be used to describe two different types of similar taxes. The first type, known aswithholding tax , is withheld from an employee’s wages by their employer. The employer then sends the withheld amount to the appropriate taxing authority. It is also referred to as a “pay-as-you-earn” tax. The second type of payroll tax is paid by the employer, from his/her own funds. The amount of payroll tax that an employer owes depends on the jurisdiction, and may be fixed or proportional to the employee’s salary. Employers withhold payroll taxes (and income taxes) from their employee’s wages.
